We've looked at a number of popular diets, and asked dieters
who are using each diet to rate their experience with
each one, giving their diet a score out of ten. And we
asked them how much weight they'd lost on
their diet to date.
Here's the rating system. Two points for
practicality (was the diet easy to use, or did
it take lots of preparation?), two points for food
choices (was the diet restrictive?), two points for
satisfaction (the diet lost points if the
dieter was hungry between meals), two points for
support (was there enough material so you can
follow the diet easily?), and two points for weight
lost (did the dieter lose the weight promised in the
diet?) No fractional points were allowed. We decided not to
rate according to price - each of the diets was
priced reasonably.

Here's Donna's review: I loved being on this diet -
because it never felt like a diet at all. In fact, I was eating
more than I usually eat. My ratings were -
Practicality: 2. Excellent. Very easy to
follow.
Food Choices: 2. Again, excellent. I
love the Diet Generator - I could print out my shopping list,
and had everything I needed ready. No fiddling, or thought
needed. Great! I'm busy, and I've failed at many diets because
I just couldn't find the time to follow them.
Satsfaction: 2. I was never hungry, at
all.
Support: 2. Lots of materials with the
diet, best was the Diet Generator, that saves so much time and
makes dieting so easy.
Weight Lost: 2. 30 pounds in just over a
month. I still have another 60 pounds to lose.

Here's Steve's review: I was surprised at
how much weight I've lost, and I feel amazing, I'm going to
persist with this diet.
Practicality: 1. I'm not a big fruit and
vegetable person, so this diet was maybe not the ideal diet for
me.
Food Choices: 1. Again, I have to give this
a 1, because although there was plenty to eat, I hated having
to eat my vegetables. But - I feel great! I'm sure the diet has
been good for me.
Satisfaction: 2. Great.
Lots to eat, never hungry.
Support: 2. Great - I used all three cook
books which came with the diet, and several of the recipes are
now favorites.
Weight Lost: 2. 25 pounds over two
months.

Here's Amber's review: I chose this diet
because I didn't just want to lose weight, I wanted to get fit.
I had a baby last year, and the weight's slowly crept
on.
Practicality: 2. I made the
program work for me - I carved out the exercise time, and
follow all the diet suggestions. I made notes!
Food Choices: 1. Have to give this a 1,
because I hate missing out on some of my naughty foods.
Satsfaction: 2. Never hungry.
Support: 2. Excellent - I always felt that
I had the information I needed, and the WHY of the program.
There's lots of follow-up material.
Weight Lost: 2. 20 pounds over one month. I
lost 20 pounds - and I need to lose another 20 or so. But, my
shape is back. I look good in clothes, and I can't wait until I
can buy a whole new wardrobe.

Here's Anita's review: I love this diet -
it's amazing. I have four kids and even my husband says that
the family's never eaten better. I feel great, and I look
great. I met a friend last week, and she asked me whether I'd
had a face lift.
Practicality: 2. I wish I
could give more marks for this one. Most other diets make you
prepare separate "diet" meals. With this diet, the family ate
what I ate, and they loved it.
Food Choices: 2. I felt that I could eat
anything - and I did. I just adjust my favorite recipes to the
Mediterranean way. Easy!
Satisfaction: 2. Loved the food, never felt
hungry.
Support: 2. The diet material has
everything you need, including an excellent recipe book - I
entertain all the time, and now all the "company" recipes are
from the recipe book that comes with the diet.
Weight Lost: 2. 40 pounds over four months.
I feel like a different person. I've just started a new job,
part-time, and before The
Mediterranean Diet, I wouldn't have had the inclination or
the energy. I'm going to be cooking and eating this way for
life - I just love it.
