Weight Loss Tip #1 – Move it
If we want to lose weight – we need to burn more energy than we are taking in – simple, but true. Once we understand this, it is clear that we need to find ways to burn more energy – because the more energy we use, the more fat we burn. Of course, this includes work-outs at the gym, but it also includes the little things – carrying the shopping, walking to the bus-stop, playing with the kids, having more sex… the list is endless.
Try to incorporate at least two new activities that get you moving more every day, and you’re well on your way to substantial weight loss.
Weight Loss Tip #2 – Eat Protein, it’s more satisfying
Protein (meat, fish, eggs, beans) is an excellent way to keep your hunger under control without going over-board on calories. As well as filling you up, protein is also low G.I, meaning you will feel fuller for longer. So rather than have a bowl of pasta, opt to have a lean, grilled steak accompanied with a large green salad. And being high in iron and minerals, it’s also better for your over-all health.
Weight Loss Tip #3 – Try weightlifting
Research has shown that for each kilo of muscle you build, you will burn 70-100 more calories per day. This can add up to quite a large number of calories over a week, a month, and a year, making it an ideal way not only to lose weight, but to keep it off. In conjunction with this, you’ll also feel great.
Weight Loss Tip #4 – Eat more meals – try six a day
Research has shown that by eating six smaller meals (snacks) as opposed to three large ones, you’ll be less likely to feel hungry and therefore less likely to eat more than you need to. As well as this, eating more regularly will help boost your metabolism, helping to burn even more calories.
Weight Loss Tip #5 – Laugh
This final weight loss tip has to be my favorite – laugh! Tests have indicated that having a good belly laugh helps us to reduce stress, boost our immune system, and burn more calories. So if you need a boost, phone a friend, go see comedy, and have a great time – not only will you feel fantastic, but you’ll be burning calories all the way.
Here’s a bonus tip: enjoy your meals. Eat a little of what you enjoy every day, and not only will you not feel deprived, but you’ll keep your weight loss motivation.
