Once you've made a commitment to losing weight, the diet you follow doesn't make much difference. All have the same effect, and that's to cut down on your energy intake, so that the energy comes from your body fat.

Here are some easy dieting tips which will help:

1. Drink more water. Water helps your metabolism to function more effectively, and it's also an appetite suppressant;

2. Eat vegetables - at least five servings a day;

3. Eat protein at every meal - protein fills you up faster;

4. Keep track of what you eat and drink with a food journals. Track everything, even the "taste" you took of the gravy you made;

5. Eliminate non-foods like cakes completely from your diet;

6. If you crave chocolate, have half a chocolate bar a day as a special treat;

7. Take your own lunch to work, and eat at home as much as possible;

8. When you're desperately hungry between meals, sip a glass of water.
