I like to eat, and so do most people who need to watch their weight. So any diet which promises me that I can eat more, and still lose weight is a winner.
One such diet is the Volumetrics eating plan, which focuses on the Energy Density of food, rather than just the calories. This is a similar theme to all those “soup” diets.
“Diets to, Um, Satisfy Every Appetite” notes that:
The idea is that if you eat things that have more weight than calories (like a giant mesclun salad with green beans, mushrooms, grilled tuna, a slice of hard-boiled egg and a splash of balsamic), you will satisfy your appetite and stay svelte.
Does Volumetrics work? Yes it does. The last time I needed to lose a few pounds, I bought the book, and cooked the recipes (very tasty) for a few weeks. I lost weight while eating more – and I really enjoyed it.
It’s definitely a diet to consider whether you need to lose many pounds or just a few.
