When you set out to lose weight you may feel that if you snack, you’re cheating.
That’s not so. Healthy snacking – “grazing” – can help you to lose weight. Just be aware of the number of calories in your snack. Even can even indulge your cravings. A square or two of chocolate won’t harm you.
There are healthy snacks that you can enjoy every day.
Healthy snacks: fruit is good for you
Full of vitamins and minerals, a piece of fruit is a healthy snack. Apples are filling: enjoy at least one apple a day.
Cereals: not just for breakfast
A small bowl of cereal with lot-fat milk is great at any time you want something to munch on. Just steer away from crunchy cereals which have been roasted in oil.
Popcorn – light as air
You can enjoy air-popped popcorn without guilt. A cup is just 55 calories. However, avoid buttered and other treat-style popcorn.
Read the labels on commercial snack bars
Unfortunately some “health” bars can contain more calories than a chocolate bar. Just be careful to read the label. If your snack’s primary ingredient is sugar, and if it contains lots of calories, count it as part of a meal, and eat a lighter meal later.
