Color dieting

Walk through the fruit and vegetable section of any market and the colors strike you: vibrant reds and oranges, restful greens and purples. One easy way to lose weight is to make sure your diet is colorful.

A colorful diet automatically includes fruits and vegetables.

The "Color Guide to Staying Healthy and Eating Right" states:

According to nutritionists, naturally color-vibrant foods serve an important role in keeping you healthy and even reducing cancer risks. Antioxidants and phytochemicals, which are found in fruits in vegetables, have been noted to significantly reduce cancer risks. Beta carotine and lycopene can help protect cells from damage.

So colorful foods are good for you, as well as helping you to lose weight.

Lose weight by adding colorful foods to each meal

Think in terms of color when planning your meals. It's a fun way to lose weight and eat a nutrition-packed diet.

Here are some ideas:

Breakfast: strawberries, blueberries, cherries, rhubarb, raspberries, peaches, apricots

Lunch: a BIG green salad, broccoli, tomatoes, pumpkin, peppers, squash, carrots

Dinner: anything at all, as long as it's colorful. You had a salad for lunch, so how about a ratatouile? Tomatoes are a key ingredient of any ratatouille, plus garlic, onions, zucchini (courgettes), eggplant (aubergine), bell peppers (capsicum); add some herbes de Provence, and basil.
