Instead of food, you drink fruit and vegetable juices or smoothies at each meal for several days, usually from one to three days. You can lose weight very quickly on a juice fast – but be aware that this is mostly water weight, you’re not losing any flab. Typically, depending on how much you weigh before you start, you could expect to lose three pounds per day.

The big benefit of a juice fast is that it helps you to break food addictions. If you have an addiction to junk food for example, you may find that several days just drinking healthy juices will help you to conquer this addiction.

When you’re on your juice fast, drink any combination of fruit and vegetable juices which appeal to you. A juicer is vital: you should be drinking freshly made juices. You can also drink fruit smoothies.

Health warning: you should never undertake a fast unless you’re under the supervision of a medical professional. When you fast, you can reveal any medical condition that you have very quickly. Because an unsupervised fast is so dangerous, it’s vital that you discuss your fasting plans with your doctor, and have a full checkup before you start a fast to lose weight, or for any other reason.
