Whether you’re on a diet to lose weight or just want to get fit and healthy, there are some foods which should be part of your diet. Would you believe that these healthy foods include dark chocolate?

Five healthy foods to add to your diet:

1. Healthy fish, canned or fresh – but not fried

Most fish is low fat, and all fish is a great source of protein. For a healthy lunch, a small can of tuna, a green salad and a small bread roll makes a great fast meal.

2. Green salads with olive oil dressing

If it’s green, it’s good for you. Make up your own salad with the greens of your choice, and your own dressing with olive oil, wine vinegar, and mustard (optional.)

3. Whole grain bread – a slice for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch

If you’ve been avoiding bread on your diet, there’s no need. Whole grain bread is good for you, and good for losing weight. Ensure that you obtain bread made from the whole grain: if you’re not sure, ask.

4. Goji berries (wolfberry)

Wolfberry has been used as a traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years: it’s very nutritious. Under the name goji berries, wolfberry is widely available at health food outlets, and makes a healthy, filling snack, which is packed with vitamin C and other nutrients.

5. Love (dark) chocolate? Eat it!

Dark chocolate is good for you. Not only does it lower your blood pressure, it’s also an antioxidant. Have a few pieces of dark chocolate every day as a special treat: you’re not breaking your diet, it’s healthy. Of course, don’t over-indulge.
