Eat Stop Eat: the "no diet" way to lose weight for good -- and keep it off

Acupuncture For Weight Loss – does it work?

by angela.booth on August 11, 2007

Acupuncture has been used successfully for weight loss, and because it’s totally drug free, it’s worth considering if diets just don’t seem to work for you.

Acupuncture is form of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which postulates that weight gain is a result of an unbalanced digestive system. Balancing your system with acupuncture will improve your metabolism. This will lead to weight loss as your system rebalances itself.

In acupuncture, needles are placed onto your skin along the meridian lines – the lines along which your chi (vital energy) moves through your body. The needles unblock chi where it’s stuck. As the chi moves, it passes energy to your organs, which begin to work more effectively.

Acupuncture doesn’t hurt. You’ll experience some tingling and heat: the heat is the movement of the chi.

If the idea of “chi” sounds like so much mumbo jumbo to you, try some gentle acupressure exercises. You can learn acupressure (acupuncture without needles) yourself – it will give you an experience of heat, and a sensation of electrical energy, so something is happening.

If you’re interested in acupuncture for weight loss, ask your doctor to recommend a TCM clinic to you.
