Get motivated to lose weight

How many times have you “failed” on your diet? Diet expert Ian Smith explains how to play with your mind to help your body.

He says: “People fail diets, diets don’t fail people… the reason people fail diets is because most people who go on a diet have not reached their motivational core. Dieting is 75 percent mental, it really is. It’s not that you can’t do it physically. It’s whether or not psychologically you can motivate yourself to get beyond all the deterrents and obstacles and distractions to actually do it.”

Build your motivation first

Before you start another diet, build your motivation first. Are you sure you really want to lose weight? Are you willing to trade fast food for a slim body? If you’d rather have the fast food, there’s nothing wrong with that. You may not be ready to diet yet.

If you’re not ready to take another leap into the diet and weight loss arena, just explore healthy eating. Aim to increase your intake of healthy food. Eating healthier is a diet too. And it may even be the one diet that succeeds for you.
