Eat Stop Eat: the "no diet" way to lose weight for good -- and keep it off

Top Ten Best Ever Weight Loss Tips

Here are my best ever weight loss tips.

Use Smaller Dinner Plates and Glasses:

Studies have confirmed that the less food you have on your plate in front of you, the less you’ll eat. So replace your dinner plates with the next size down, or go as small as you want to. A small plate piled with food will be much more satisfying than a large plate with very little food on it.

The same goes for your cups and glasses. Use smaller cups and glasses and you will take in a lower amount of liquid calories.

Eat Breakfast

This is an easy one to forget, but if you are on a weight loss program, you must eat breakfast to give your metabolism a jump start every morning. If you don’t eat breakfast, this will seriously interfere with your weight loss success.

Take a Walk

Some information out there claims that you can walk for 45 minutes before your body even knows you are doing anything. More accurately, a 30 minute walk a day will prevent weight gain, but anything over that will result in fat loss. So if you are going to walk, you might as well do the extra 15 minutes an really reap the benefits.

Only Eat When You are Hungry

We have conditioned ourselves to eat out of nervousness, boredom, or habit among other reasons. Make the decision to only eat when you are hungry.

Eat at Home

When you eat at home you can plan what you are going to have ahead of time (on your smaller plates) and this leaves a lot less margin for an unexpected binge or an unwanted stop at a fast food drive through.

Make You Own Vegetable Platter

Make your own vegetable platter and keep it in your fridge where you can see it. When you need a snack, just make your selection off of your vegetable platter and dip your vegetables in your favorite low cal dressing.

When You are Ordering Out, Get the Smallest Portion

When you are out, always order the smallest portion. The smallest popcorn or in a restaurant the smallest salad, the half-sandwich, etc. If you find yourself in a fast food restaurant you can even order the children’s meal.

Half Your Meal

When you are at a restaurant, you can immediately box one-half of your dinner and eat the other half. If this is too much, you can remove a third or a quarter of your meal. This also helps you get used to smaller portions.

Avoid the Whites

Avoid white bread, white pasta, and white sugar. Replace the white bread and pastas with whole grain substitutes. You will eat less and stay fuller, longer. There are many sugar replacements to choose from, honey is a good one.

Include Exercise

Exercise is hard to avoid when you are on a weight loss plan for two reasons. First, exercise will help you take the weight off in half the time. Secondly, if you don’t exercise and you are dieting, the diet will take muscle mass first. So the muscle mass goes and you are left with the fat you are trying to lose. This is a very compelling reason to include exercise in any form as an important part of your weight loss program.
