Do you know why most people find dieting to be boring? That is because they take these diet programs’ suggestions as gospel truths and follow them ‘as is’. Now, if you follow any diet program in its original form, it would seem boring to you; after all, it is not possible for these programs to create meal plans which would satisfy everyone, since every individual has different tastes.

However, you, as an individual, are free to modify your diet plan to suit your requirements. Don’t think that if you modify your diet program you would fail to lose weight; far from that, you will actually find it easier to stick to your diet program on a long term basis.

Several people quit their diet programs even before the first month is over, and often the reason behind that is boredom. If you keep eating the same types of foods every day, it would obviously bore the hell out of you. A smarter way is to add some variety in your meals so that you enjoy them instead of hating them. In this article I will tell you how to do that.

The first thing you need to realize is that you MUST follow a healthy diet plan in order to lose weight. I lost almost 20 pounds several years ago by following a simple diet plan consisting of a cup of green tea, which was followed by a soy-based drink and then some vitamin supplements.

If you have sharp eyes, you will notice that I followed a healthy meal plan and lost weight that way. I neither starved nor worked out in gym throughout the day. But if you follow such a diet plan day after day, you would quit it pretty soon. Assuming that it took me several years to lose those twenty pounds, what do you think made me stick to my diet plan? The number one rule of weight loss is that you must not discard junk foods from your life like old clothes. Junk foods formed an integral part of your life for a long time, the reason why you would find it difficult to avoid them no matter how hard you try.

Better than starving for several days and then eating dozens of burgers out of extreme hunger, a better approach is to eat your favorite junk foods occasionally. If you eat one burger per week, you won’t gain any significant amount of weight, no matter what others tell you. But keep in mind that you should exercise self-discipline in this regard, so that ‘one burger per week’ doesn’t translate into ‘one burger per day’.

As you continue dieting, you will learn about the foods which are best for your health, as well as how your body responds to your meals. You can then use this knowledge to make the required adjustments in your meal plan. Dieting is not about following a strict set of rules; it is all about eating healthy
