Want to lose weight? If so, ensure that the weight loss program you choose offers healthy nutrition — it’s vital. Proper nutrition makes a diet easy to stick to.

One of the topics overweight people tend to have the most trouble with is nutrition. Weight loss is intended to help people look and feel better but those who are looking for the quick fix overlook proper nutrition.

One great place to start is the food pyramid. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has created the food pyramid to help average people with nutrition. Weight loss can be made easy when you consider what the food pyramid says:

1. Eat plenty of whole grains. The average person needs six to 11 servings of bread, cereal, rice and pasta each day. Remember, a slice of bread is one serving, so the average sandwich has two servings of bread. Watch serving sizes. Read labels on product packaging to help you understand nutrition. Weight loss may come easier when you just watch how much you are eating.

2. Eat more vegetables. Listen to your mother’s advice: You need to eat three to five servings of vegetables each day. Vegetables and whole grains provide fiber, which helps fill you up so you eat less. Vegetables also provide plenty of vitamins and minerals so important to good nutrition. Weight loss experts agree that an attractive salad is an excellent diet tool.

3. Indulge your sweet tooth with fruit. The food pyramid recommends two to four servings of fruit each day. Not only does fruit provide excellent nutrition, weight loss experts agree that fruit also provides sweet flavors that dieters need at times. Many cultures signal the end of a meal with a sweet dessert. Instead of indulging in a sinfully sweet dessert, ease your conscience by eating an apple, strawberries or melon. You’ll satisfy your sweet tooth and still lose weight.

4. Strengthen your bones with dairy products. Most people should consume two to three servings of milk, yogurt or cheese each day for healthy bones and good nutrition. Weight loss experts agree that those who drink three glasses of milk a day can achieve a healthier weight than otherwise. If you are a stress eater, try drinking a cold glass of milk the next time you are all wound up: You may find yourself feeling calmer and ready to tackle what’s bugging you.

5. Give yourself energy with protein: Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs and nuts all provide the energy we need, so most people should get two to three servings of them each day. These foods are important to nutrition: Weight loss devotees know that eating meats, beans etc. can provide iron, protein and other important nutrients. Just make sure you choose lean cuts of meat.

6. Fats, oils and sweets are meant to be special treats. In earlier times, sweets and fats were extra special foods that were only used rarely, at best. People would only expect to have cakes, cookies and candy once or twice a year, at most. Fats were only used on a limited basis to help with the cooking process, not as the foundation for nutrition. Weight loss clients need to remember that while fats and carbohydrates do have their place in providing energy and fiber, carrying vitamins throughout the body and protecting organs, they should only be used on a very limited basis.

The food pyramid not only provides a great basis for nutrition. Weight loss aficionados should also use it as a starting point to reach their goals. The Banana Diet helps you to both lose weight, and get healthy with proper nutrition.

Banana Diet: Can Losing Weight Really Be So Simple?

"Watch Your Belly Fat Vanish, and Burn Fat Around The Clock. You Can Eat What YOU Like, With the Every Other Day Diet..."

If you want to lose weight you’ve probably heard of the banana diet. However you may have dismissed the diet is being too simple to be effective. Weight loss should be complicated, shouldn’t it?

The banana diet is the simplest diet in the world. There’s really not much to learn about it. However despite its simplicity, it’s powerfully effective. In the past four months, I’ve lost 25 pounds on the banana diet, and have made just one change to my diet.

1. Why I Love the Banana Diet

Here is the banana diet in a sentence: eat bananas and drink room temperature water for your breakfast. That’s it, that’s the entire diet.

That’s why I love the banana diet — you can remember it, it doesn’t take any time at all, and you lose weight.

Of course there’s a little more to the diet. Here’s the rest of it: you should eat normally for your other meals, and you should go to bed before midnight.

2. How Much Can You Expect to Lose?

I have several clients on the banana diet. They’re losing around the same amount of weight that they would lose on more conventional diets, which is around two pounds a week. One client has lost almost 100 pounds so far; she has another 100 pounds to lose. She’s excited at her success, and so am I.

That said how much you lose on the diet depend on how much weight you have to lose in total. Why not give the banana diet try? You’ll find that you lose weight within the first few days, and what’s more you’ll feel great.

In fact, that’s the major benefit of the banana diet: you’ll feel energetic and well and will have lots of energy. One of my clients recently said to me that she had no intention of ever giving up eating bananas for breakfast, because it makes her feel so great for the rest of the day, and she sleeps like a baby.

3. Is the Banana Diet Good for You?

Bananas are packed with nutrients, so the banana diet is good for you. Eating a couple of bananas a day, can actually lower your blood pressure. Since you’re eating a normal diet for the rest of the day, the diet is not restrictive. Try it yourself, you’ll soon see that you have more energy. I’ll be surprised if you decide to try any other form of weight loss.

So can weight loss really be so simple? Yes it can, try the banana diet yourself and you’ll soon become a convert and will lose weight effortlessly.

Lose weight: What is the best weight-loss food?

Weight-loss food is big business, as you can easily tell from a single trip to the grocery store. Which is the best weight-loss food for you?

Not surprisingly, you probably already know the answer to that question: The best weight-loss food is the nutritious food you will actually eat, food that looks and tastes good. Obviously, that covers a lot of ground. But it really is possible for anyone to eat and enjoy food and still lose weight.

Here are some weight-loss food tips anyone can use:

1. Avoid junk food. This should be your top weight-loss food tip. Just as the name implies, junk food is garbage for your body. While you may think you crave candy, chips, cookies etc., these really do nothing good for your body. Replace them with healthy snacks like fruit, unsalted popcorn etc. Your body will thank you by dropping unwanted pounds.

2. Don’t take seconds. If a little bit is good, a little bit more is not better. Even much-hyped weight-loss food will add pounds to your frame if you keep going back for more. Eat your meal slowly and savor the flavors but resist the temptation to have more.

3. Don’t eat until you are truly hungry. Mindless eating is a diet killer for many of us. If you tend to eat when you are bored, think of other things you can do instead. For instance, learn to knit or crochet. This will keep your mind and hands busy when you are watching TV or sitting in the stands for your children’s sports activities. If you tend to eat when you are stressed, take a walk away from the kitchen in order to calm down and clear your mind.

4. Consider portion sizes. A portion size is not necessarily what you think it is. When you read the label on prepackaged foods, prepare to be shocked by the portion size. It is often much smaller than you think. Even so-called weigh-loss food has abysmally small portions.

5. Treat treats as treats. In days long ago, it was a real treat to get foods laden with sugar, which was an expensive commodity. These types of food were only tasted once or twice a year at most. No one really needs to have cake every day. Save it for a really special occasion.

6. Use “real” ingredients. Many weight-loss food items use synthetic ingredients that don’t quite match the original flavors. They also may have hidden health risks that we may not know about for years to come. Try using natural ingredients and find out what food is really supposed to taste like. You may be surprised to find that the original tastes much better than the weight-loss food version. You may also find that it fills you up and satisfies you more quickly so you will eat less.

7. Don’t obsess over weight loss. Food was meant to provide fuel for your body and was also meant to be enjoyed. Make food just one more healthy, enjoyable part of your life and you will lose weight.
