The best diet: any diet that helps you to cut calories

Still wondering which is the BEST diet? A new study reports says that any diet will do, because it’s the calories which are important.

In theory, therefore, you could skip trying to find a diet, and just eat less. But of course that’s easier said than done. Most of use need structure, so that we can teach ourself to feed ourselves well, and stay slim once we’ve lost weight.

Calories count when losing weight – The Irish Times – Tue, Mar 03, 2009 reports:

“In light of another highly regarded study published last year that reached a similar conclusion, medical experts are embracing the back-to-basics idea that the simple act of cutting calories is most important when it comes to losing weight.

The conclusions could end the often-contentious debate over the comparative effectiveness of diets that are predominantly low in fat, high in protein, low in carbohydrates or marked by other specific configurations of nutrients.”
