Here’s the dirty little secret of weight loss and dieting that people don’t talk about… you WILL get hungry.

It doesn’t matter much what diet you’re on, hunger will strike, and you’ll rush out to the nearest donut shop.

Here’s how to prevent that: eat little and often. Focus on foods which give you a lot for a little. Foods containing protein do that, and so do vegetables and fruit. Avoid high fat and sugary foods when hunger strikes.

Be prepared for hunger pangs by carrying healthy snacks with you. I like to take tiny packs of dried fruit with me. If I get ravenous, I eat a few raisins, or a date.

Above all, be mentally prepared that you will occasionally be very hungry, and make your peace with that — it’s part of losing weight. Consider each hunger pang a marker on the road to the body shape and health you want.
