Weight Loss With Hypnosis: Suggest Yourself Skinny

If you’ve considered hypnosis for weight loss, you may be wondering whether it works. The answer is, that it’s effective for some people. It can work for you if you understand how to use auto-suggestion.

Hypnosis is basically focused attention. When you’re completely relaxed, and totally focused on the hypnotherapist’s words, the suggestions he makes are completely accepted by your subconscious mind.

However, you don’t need to rely on a hypnotherapist: you can create your own suggestions, and can use the suggestions to help you to lose weight whether you’re in a state of hypnosis or not.

Here’s how.

1. Create Your Own Suggestions by Substituting Good Habits for Bad

If you’re overweight, you have certain bad habits when it comes to food. For example, you may have a soda habit, a junk food habit, or a midnight eating habit.

Make a list of bad habits that you have which are related to food.

Now create a list of suggestions which will counteract those bad habits.

For example if you have a midnight eating habit, you could create a suggestion like this: “I am calm and relaxed when I go to bed, and I sleep through the night waking completely alert and feeling wonderful.”

2. Write Your Suggestions Daily

The suggestions you create will sink into your subconscious mind if you use hypnosis or self hypnosis, however you can also write your suggestions.

If you write them often enough, the suggestions will have the desired result.

Therefore when you’ve created a suggestion, make a commitment to write the suggestion three times a day. It will take around three weeks before your suggestion takes root, and you see the effects in your changes of behavior.

(If you’re thinking that suggestions are similar to affirmations, you’re completely right.

3. See Yourself Skinny: Use a Digital Diary

Digital diaries are becoming popular with dieters, because they create a photographic record: you can see the changes in yourself.

When you’re creating a digital diary, take a photograph of yourself at the same time every day. You should be wearing the same clothes (or no clothes): use your cell phone and a full-length mirror to take the photos.

Your digital diary will help you to lose weight, because you will have evidence every day of your continuing weight loss.

You can combine your digital diary with a food diary for the best effect.

Write down everything that you eat each day, with the times in which you ate, and also your current weight if you like. Weighing yourself each day can be dangerous, but it does no harm if you realize that your weight can vary by as much as three pounds every, day depending on your hormone levels and water retention.
