Lose Weight Now: 25 Days to Weight Loss, Day 12

by angela.booth on June 24, 2010

Here we are at day 12 of our 25 days to weight loss program. The days are zooming by, and you’re seeing a difference: you have more energy, your clothes are looser, and you’re getting excited at the results you’re seeing. Best of all, you’re developing a healthy diet, and this will be the last time you need to think about losing weight.

Tomorrow we’ll have passed the halfway point and start heading for home. By now you’ll have discovered some differences between this program and other weight loss programs.

1. It’s very low cost. Compared to other pricey weight loss programs this one is a real bargain: You only needed a notebook for your food journal. Chances are, you already had one lying around the house anyway. Your grocery bills are likely to be lower too, because you’re skipping those snacks and seconds.
2. It’s safer. On our program, you don’t have to worry about any proprietary blend of ingredients in some magic diet pill or shake. You won’t have to worry about whether you are setting yourself up for trouble down the road, like you would with other weight loss programs.

3. It’s easy. You don’t have to count carbs, calories, fat grams etc. You don’t have to figure out if you’ve eaten enough portions from the various food groups in the right combinations. You simply eat normally. You can still enjoy meals with your family without having to prepare anything different for yourself. This is a lot more family friendly than other weight loss programs.

4. It’s healthy. Some weight loss programs, such as the cookie diet, the cabbage soup diet, the banana diet etc., make you focus on one food or food group. That’s not healthy because you thereby deprive yourself of some vital nutrients. By eating a balanced diet, your body is getting all the nutrients it needs so it can burn calories and fat more effectively.

5. It’s counter-cultural. There’s a bit of the rebel in all of us: We don’t like weight loss programs that turn out to be just one cog in a giant food conglomerate. If you have an independent streak, this is one program you can do on your own.

6. It’s effective. If you’ve been following all the steps in the program, you’ve likely seen the scale going down. That’s great! Your clothes probably feel better and you probably have more energy.

7. It’s habit forming. They say it takes 21 days to make a habit. Well, our program is 25 days long.
If you follow the tenets of keeping a food journal, eliminate snacks and second helpings, drinking water and exercising 30 minutes a day, you are establishing habits that will take you through the rest of your life. Those other weight loss programs can’t say that: You’ll likely gain back all the weight once you stop following them.

While there are many good weight loss programs out there, it’s nice to know the search is over, you’re finally on your way to getting the body you’ve always wanted.

If you’ve followed the program this far, congratulations are in order. Look how far you’ve come in less than two weeks! Find a (non-food) way to celebrate you! You deserve it.
